Jean-Paul (J.P.) Desjardins is a Registered Physiotherapist who received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from D’Youville College in 2010 after completing a Bachelor of Education in Kinesiology at McGill University in 2005. He has worked in health and wellness for over 15 years as a physical therapist, cardiac technician, personal trainer and return to work coordinator in addition to obtaining additional certification in acupuncture and dry needling.
J.P. considers himself a lower body and low back specialist and has worked alongside top orthopedic surgeons including Dr. Wayne Marshall, Dr. Pradeep Alexander, Dr. Nizar Mohammad, Dr. Raj Rampersaud, Dr. Eric Massicotte and Dr. Darrell Ogilvie-Harris. Having experienced his own knee injuries and surgery while playing Provincial and Varsity level soccer he knows what it takes to recover and get back into action. He still plays over 35 men’s league for Northumberland FC and plans on running for decades to come.
For the past seven years J.P. has been working with our strong team of professionals and support staff to create a clinic environment that promotes overall wellness, health, and fitness. His strength is assessing the root cause of your pain or mobility issue and communicating with you so that you know ‘why’ you are doing the homework he has prescribed. J.P. recognizes that you need to address the bigger picture including the relationship between the biological, psychological, and social aspects of your life. He prefers an active approach which includes education, mindfulness, listening to music (we take requests), dancing, singing, and, of course, exercise.
